Smith was soon followed by that of William Raimond Baird, ΒΘΠ, who was instrumental in placing an ΑΤΩ chapter at St. Lawrence. The only obstacle thus overcome, a sudden expansion of the fraternity resulted, fifteen chapters being chartered in 1881–2.
