COMMUNICATION
Radio Station - VIXO - (BAKERS)

Mission: Primarily to maintain communications with the Units operating under Commander Task Force, Seventy One, and to serve as a major link in the SOUTHWEST PACIFIC W/T Organisation.

Building: Prefabricated Structures - none.

Major Types of Equipment used: (a) Transmitters: (1) Three of Australian manufacture (frequency range 2000 to 20000 kcs); one TBA-3 (4000 to 26000 kcs); one TBK-11 (2000 to 18100 kcs); two TBK-12 (2000 to 18100 kcs); one TBM-7 (2000 to 18100 kcs); two TBL-1 (175-600 kcs and 2000-18100 kcs); one TBR-1 (175-2000 kcs and 2000-18100 kcs); one TBR (2000-18100 kcs); one TCU (300-2000 kcs); one ET-8019D (4000-22320 kcs); five TEW-1 (350-1000 kcs and 3000-18100 kcs); one Y-14 (150-600 and 2500-20000 kcs); one (made by USN personnel at Radio Lab.) Mission: To maintain visual communications with vessels in the harbor area.

Buildings: prefabricated structures none.

Number and size of Signal and Searchlights: one 12" incandescent; one Aldis lamp.

Size of Signal Masts: 35 ft. tall, 8 ft. yardarms each side of mast, ten halyards.

Personnel: 2 Warrant Officers and 2 enlisted men.
