THE BHAGAVAD-GITA.

A portion of Mine own Self, transformed in the world of life into an immortal Spirit,[1] draweth round itself the senses of which the mind[2] is the sixth, veiled in matter[3]. (7)

When the Lord acquireth a body and when He abandoneth it, He seizeth these[4] and goeth with them, as the wind takes fragrances from their retreats (8)

Enshrined in the ear, the eye, the touch, the taste and the smell, and in the mind[2] also, He enjoyeth the objects of the senses (9)
