the Amarna tablets, in the Babylonian language and belong to the Amarna period, to which also the contents of the letters suit in a general way, if not so specifically as the single tablet found at Lachish.
This single relic of the archive of Lachish is of extraordinary interest since it refers to a Zimricla, governor of Lachish, who is most interestingly mentioned in the Tel-el-Amarna letters. The date is of course soon after 1400 B.C.
