LIGHTING THE FESTIVAL LIGHTS
Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who hast sanctified us with thy commandments, and commanded us to light (the Sabbath and) the festival lights.
Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who hast granted us life and sustenance and permitted us to reach this season.

THE SEDER PLATE
- Three matzoth representing Kohen, Levi, and Yisrael;
- A roasted meatbone on the right, commemorating the Passover offering;
- A roasted egg on the left, commemorating the pilgrim offering;
- Maror in the center, commemorating the embittered existence in Egypt;
- Ḥaroseth underneath the meatbone, resembling the mortar used for bricks;
- Karpas, or any vegetable, underneath the egg, to be dipped in salt water.
