address it. I don't remember anything coming of this or what it was really about.
Q So you don't have any memory about what happened with an additional request for D.C. National Guard on December 18th for the White House campus?
A I don't have an independent memory, but I'm sure if there was a request, there's a document for a request for D.C. National Guard that would've been made by Secret Service for protection of the White House.
Q And it looks like you emailed to—that it would be with ExecSec?
A So there's these ExecSec, the Office of—well, the Office of the Secretary of Defense is "SD," as it says there, and other recipients in the administrative group. I don't—like, I can't see if that's—who's in that chain or not exactly.

Q Yeah, I just want to—you just, I think, Mr. Patel, said that you talked to the Vice President on January 6th?
A Well—sorry. I should've been—thank you for letting me clarify.
Me, personally, I was on the phone with the Chairman and the Secretary of the—the Acting Secretary of Defense in the Secretary of Defense's office when that call came in.
Q I see. It's a group call.
A It's a group call. Thank you.
Q Okay. Tell me more of what you remember from the call.
A The Vice President, just what I remember, was asking the status. We asked if the Vice President was secure. Being in the Presidential succession, it was one of our responsibilities. He said he was secure somewhere, I think in the Capitol, but I'm not sure.
