In the centre, a richly wooded hillock with a sunlit opening on the top. In the foreground, on a road winding away into the dis- tance on the right, are four cows, one of which is drinking at a brook that crosses the road. In the foreground, two herdsmen, one of whom, mounted on a white horse, is driving a herd of cattle. On the left, two cavaliers pass on a road leading to some rustic buildings, of which only the roofs arc seen, with high trees rising above them. A meadow tra- versed by a river on the right.
