The greatest difficulty is to get people to remember that the origins of the Anno Domini and the Moslem Reckonings—the former at Rome and the latter in Arabia—are separated from each other only by a few decades of time; that the Advent in the one case was fixed long ex post facto, while the Flight in the other era was recorded chronologically almost contemporaneously with the Hegira of the Prophet.
