LYCOPERDON Tuber. Linn.
Tuffles are found in various parts of England, always under ground. They are frequently fought for by dogs in Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Kent. They are esteemed a dainty in soups, and are sold at Coventgarden market at a considerable price. The outside is curiously corrugated and black.
