Time for referral to Compliance Section. The Examining Division may refer a case to the Compliance Section at any point in the correspondence cycle, if the applicant flatly refuses to comply with the registration requirements. This is a rather rare type of case, however. Where the applicant writes us the equivalent of "let's forget the whole thing," the case should ordinarily not be referred to the Compliance Section until after the Examining Division has written once more, pointing out the obligation to register in general terms.
