SEASONS

Winter, spring, summer and fall—
Shadow-lights upon a wall:

Gleams of grey fleeing the path
Where the wind walks cold with wrath;

Yellow-fluttered petalled things
Like flower ghosts of other springs;

Curtains of dull, sticky gold,
Smothering hours in their fold;

Smoky rays that stir and creep
Aimlessly, like tired sheep.

Winter, spring, summer and fall—
Shadows fading on a wall.
