(1883). SAINTIN, JULES fiMILE, born in Lemc (Aisne), Aug. 14, 1829. Genre and portrait painter, pupil of Drolling, Picot, and Le- boucher. His portraits in oil, crayon, and pastel are full of life. Genre painter, pupil of Vien in Paris, whither he went in 1768 ; won prizes in 1772, 1774, and 1778, and the grand prix de Rome in 1780 ; after finishing his course at Rome, stud- ied also in Venice.
