Dec. 25, 1760, and succeeded his father April 16, 1812, having been previously summoned to Parliament in his father's barony of Ashburnham: m. 1st, Aug. 28, 1784, Lady Sophia Thynne, daughter of the 1st Marquess of Bath, K.G. (she d. 1791), having had issue two sons and two daughters ; 2ndly, July 25, 1795, Lady Charlotte Percy, daughter of the 1st Earl of Beverley, and by her had issue six sons and seven daughters ; and d. Oct. 27, 1830. Her ladyship d. 1862. ASHBURTON, BARON. (BARING.) ALEXANDER HUGH BARING, 4th Baron. Born May 4th, 1835 ; succeeded his father in 1 868 ; educated at Harrow, and at Christ Church, Oxford, (B.A. 1857, M.A. 1861) ; sat as M.P. for Thetford, 1857 67, when he accepted "the Stewardship of the Chiltern Hundreds ; is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for Norfolk : married (1864) the Hon. Leonora Caroline Digby, 4th daughter of the 9th Baron Digby, and has issue, living, Another, b. 1873. Daughter, b. 1874.
