Was Attache at St. Petersburg 1834 5, Secretary of Embassy at Paris, 18589 (some part of the time as Charge d'Affaires), and Capt. of the Yeoman of the Guard 1866 7; was Col. of the Royal Westminster Militia until his death, and an Hereditary Trustee to the British Museum : rn. 1836, Mary Sarah, who d. 1873 daughter of the Hon. and Rev. Gerald Valerian Wellesley, D.D., Canon of Durham. He d. June 18/3, leaving issue four sons and four daughters. CAIRNS, BARON. (CAIRNS.) HUGH MAC CALMONT CAIRNS, P.C. D.C.L.
