Edu- cated at Oscott Roman Catholic College. Entered the Royal Horse Guards as Cornet 1850, promoted to Lieut. 1854, and Capt. 1855, Served with the Grenadier Guards in the Crimea ; became Capt. 74th Highlanders 1858, and served with that re- giment in India. Appointed Chief In- What God wills I will. spector of Musketry at Madras 1862, and Capt. Warwickshire Yeomanry Cavalry 1867. Was Aide-de-Camp to the Duke of Abercorn, K.G., when Lord Lieut. of Ireland, 1866 68. Is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for Warwickshire. Married 1st (1866), Louisa, who died 1868, eldest daughter of Col. Edward King Tenison, of Kilronan Castle, co. Roscommon, and has issue, living, Daughter, Louisa Florence Edith. His lordship married 2ndly (1871), La Comtesse Alfred de Bueren (nee Fortamps). Brothers living, James Charlemagne, heir presumptive, b. 1834. Educated at St. Mary's Catholic College, Oscott. Entered the Army 1853, became Lieut. 13th Light Infantry 1854, Adjt. 1855, Capt. and Major 1859, Lieut.-Col. 1870, and Col. 1875; placed on half-pay 1861. Served in the Crimea as Adjutant to his regiment, and was at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and battle of the Tchernaya ; has the Crimean medal and clasp, and the Turkish War medal. Served throughout the Indian Mutiny, including the relief of Azimghur and campaign in Gorruckpore 1858. Was Aide-de-Camp to Lord Clyde 1858 60, and was present during the Oude and Trans, Gogra campaign 1858; has the Indian Mutiny medal. Proceeded to China 1863, as Assistant Adjutant-General to the expeditionary force, and was present throughout the campaign, including the capture of the Taku Forts, and advance on and entry to Pekin ; has medal and clasps for China. Is Assistant Quartermaster General at Dover, and a Magistrate for counties Dumfries and Kirkcudbright: TO. 1861, Ella Frances Catherine, only daughter of Sir Archibald Alison, 1st Bart, and relict of Robert Cutlar Fergusson, Esq. of Craigdarroch, N.
