EGLINTON, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was his father, Archi- bald William, K.T. P.C. D.C.L. LL.D. 13th Earl of Eglinton. He was b. Sept. 29, 1812, and succeeded his grandfather, Dec. 14, 1819, and, being heir-male of the Earls of Win- ton, in Scotland (which title had been dormant since 1749), was created Earl of Winton, in 1859: was Lord Lieut, of Ireland, 1852 and 1858 9, Lord Rector of the University of Glasgow, and Marischal College, Aberdeen, and Lord Lieut, of Ayrshire: m. 1st, Feb. 17, 1841, Theresa, daughter of Charles Newcomen, Esq. and widow of Com. R. Howe Cockerell, R.N. (she d. 1853), having had issue three sons and a daughter; 2ndly, Nov. 4, 1858, Lady Adela Caroline Harriet Capel, daughter of the 6th Earl of Essex, (she d. I860; ; and d. Oct. 4, 1861, having had issue from his last marriage, two daughters. EGMONT, EARL OF. Under the white cross. (PERCEVAL.) Sits as BARON LOYELL AND HOLLAND. CHARLES GEORGE PERCEVAL, 7th Earl, and llth Baronet, son of the late Hon. and Rev. Charles George Perceval, Rector of Calverton, Bucks, by Frances Agnes, daughter of the late Ven. George Tre- velyan, Archdeacon of Taunton. Born June 15, 1845 ; succeeded his uncle 1874. Educated at University College, Oxford. Sat as M.P. for Midhurst (Cj from Feb. till Aug. 1874. Is a Magistrate for Sussex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, North- amptonshire, and co. Cork, and a Capt. Married (1809) Lucy, daughter of Henry in Bucks Yeomanry Cavalry. King, Esq. Heir presumptive, His cousin, Augustus George Perceval, Esq.; b. 1829, m. 1852, Emma, who d. 1873, 2nd daughter of the late John Matthews, Esq. Residtnce, New Zealand.
