Born Oct. 18th, 1803 ; succeeded his brother in 1868; was educated at Armagh School, and at Trinity College, Dublin ; was M.P. for co. Cavan 1838 40 : married 1st (1839) Dorothea, who died 1861, daughter of the Hon. R. Pennefather, a Baron of the Irish Exchequer; 2ndly (1864) Mary Anne, who died 1873, daughter of the late Samuel Delap, Esq. of Monellan. Brothers living, James Pierce, heir presump- I am ready. five, b. 1813; entered the Army 1834, became Lieut. 1837, Capt. 1841, Major 50th Foot, 1854, Lieut.-Col. 1854 (placed on half-pay 1855), and Lieut.-Col. 9/th Foot, I860; retired I860. Served with the 50th Foot in the Crimea, was present at the battle of the Alma, and at the siege of Sebastopol, where he was severely wounded in the head ; has the Crimean medal and two clasps, the order of the Medjiclie, and the Turkish War Medal.
