Born May 29th, 1812; called to the Bar in Ireland 1836, and became a Q.C. and Bencher of the King's Inn 1849; was for several years Assistant-Barrister for (co.) Longford, sometime Queen's Serjeant, Solicitor-General for Ireland 1860 1, and Attorney - General 1861 5, and Fourth Justice of the Court of Common Pleas in Ireland 1865 8, when he was made Lord Chancellor of Ireland; sat as M.P. for Tralee 18658; is a Com- missioner of National Education and of Charitable Donations and Bequests, and a Senator of the Queen's University: married 1st (1836), Mary, who died 1868, daughter of Charles Hamilton Teeling, Esq., of Belfast, by wheni he has issue living, Daughter, Frances, m. 1868, (O'Hagan). His lordship married 2ndly (1871), Alice, youngest daughter of Col. Towneley, of Towneley, Lancashire. Creation, Baron O'Hagan of TuUahogue, in the county of Tyrone, in the peerage of the United Kingdom, 1870.
