STRATHMORE, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was his brother, Thomas George Lyon Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore. He was b. Sept. 28th, 1822, and succeeded his grandfather, Aug. 22, 1840; was an officer in the 1st Life Guards; Captain of the South Hertfordshire Yeomanry Cavalry, a Dep. Lieut, of Forfarshire, and a Representative Peer of Scotland : m. April 30, 1850, the Hon. Charlotte Maria Barrington, daughter of the 6th Viscount Barrington, (she d. 1854) ; and d.
