Aug. 8, 1786, and succeeded his father, July 19, 1833, and his mother in the Scotch honours, Jan. 29, 1839 ; was Lord Lieut, of Sutherland, Custos Rotulorum of Staffordshire, and High Steward of Stafford ; during his father's lifetime he was summoned to Parliament as Baron Gower : n. May 26, 1823, Lady Harriet Elizabeth Georgiana Howard, daughter of the 6th Earl of Carlisle. K.G. ; and d. Feb. 28, 1861, having had issue four sons and seven daughters. Her Grace d in 1868.
