Consecrated 58th Bishop of Carlisle, 1869; is Pa- tron of 42 Livings, the two Archdeaconries of Carlisle and Westmoreland, and the Canonries in his Cathedral : married (1845) Ellen, eldest daughter of George King, Esq. of Higher Bebington, Cheshire, and has issue, living, three sons and four daughters. This See was established by Henry I. in 1133, soon after the foundation of the Cathedral by William Rufu*.
