Club, United Service. Charlotte Maria. This family is descended in an unbroken line from Corbeau, a noble Norman, who with his two sons came over with William the Conqueror. One of these sons, Roger de Corbet, was father of William, who settled at Wattlesborough, Shropshire, and was the common ancestor of the present baronet, and of Peter Corbet, of Caus Castle, who was summoned to Parliament as a baron temp. Edward I. Moreton Corbet Castle, the ancient family seat, was destroyed by fire during the Civil Wars, and is a beautiful ruin. The present baronet descends from Richard Corbet, Esq., younger brother of Sir Vincent Corbet, M.P., who was created a baronet 1641 (title ext. 1688), and whose widow was created Viscountess Corbet for life.
