The ist baronet, Sir Alexander Macdonald, inherited the Lee and Carnwath estates from his cousin, Charles Count Lockhart Wishart, the representative of the Lockharts of Lee, one of whom, Sir Simon, accompanied Lord James Douglas to the Holy Land.
