Your Meeting with Mr. Meir Kuri, Head of the Israeli Mission, December 21

Mr. Meir Euri, Chief of the Israeli Mission, is called on you at 11:00 a.m., December 21. A brief biographic sketch is attached. We understand from Mr. Exri's staff that the call is principally a goodwill call "in connection with the holidays", but you might, if the occasion arise, probe on the following points:

(1) Israeli assesment of apparent warming of Iran/Arab relations, e.g., removal of Iran/U(illegible text)R relations, rumors of the renewal of Iran/Lebanon relations, and slight thaw in Iran/Syria relations.

(2) The Israeli assessment of the Kurdish situation. There are signs that the situation between Berzani and Baghdad is already slowly deteriorating, though neither side apparently wants fighting to start again. Because of long time Israeli involvement in the Kurdish question and support for Barzani, we would be interested in Mr. (illegible text)'s assessment of the present situation and his prediction how long it will last.

(3) Iraqi Troops in Jordan. We have recently heard from Iranian charge in Baghdad that the Iraqi troops in Jordan have, for tactical reasons, been move back very close to the Jordanian side of the Jordan/Iraq border. Do the Israelis have any information on this?
