He was attainted in 1486, as was also his s., but was restored to the honours in 1489 ; the 3rd Duke was under attainder from 1546 to 1553 ; his s. was the Earl of Suney executed by Henry VIII. The 4th Duke was attainted and beheaded in 15 72, for his attach- ment to the cause of Mary, Queen of Scots; some of the honours were restored to this ]ieer's grandson in 1603, and the dukedom was regained by the family in 1664.
