The family of Seale was originally seated in Northumberland, and in -the reign of Elizabeth destroyed all the wolves in the North of England and Scotland, for which service the Queen granted them as a crest a wolf's head, and of this stock sprang Robert Seale, who settled in Jersey. His s. m. the dan. of Sir George, afterwards Baron Carteret, the father of John, Baron Carteret and Earl Gran- ville (ext. ), who wag Gov. of Jersey and Guernsey, -and afterwards Lord-Lieut, of Ireland.
