The 9th Bt. assumed tlie name of Doughty in lien of his patronymic in 1820 ; his successor' assumed the name of Doughty before and in addition to that of Tiehborne on succeeding to the title in 1853. The Baronete;,' is remarkable for having been the subject, in "1872-4, of two celebrated trials, in the first of which an impostor named Arthur Orton attempted to establish his right to the title and estates by claiming to be Roger, s. of the 10th Bt., who had been lost at sea with the ship •' Bella " many years before, and in the second of which, lasting nine months, Orton was convicted of perjury by a specially constituted court, and sentenced to fourteen years' penal servitude.
