Kildare, 1913. The family of Weldon is one of great antiquity, and traces descent from Bertram de Weltden, Bishoj) of Durham soon after the Conquest. The ancestor of this branch of the family settled in Ireland during' the reign of James I. The 1st Bt., Sir Thomas I Burdett, received his title with remainder, in default of male issue, to the heirs male of his sister Anne, wife of Walter Weldon ; and on the death of Sir Bagenal William Burdett, in 1840, the title reverted to the present Bt.'s' father, under the peculiar limitation of the patent.
