The Gth Earl, however, received a contirmation of his hereditary dignities by act of parliament, 1826. Arnold Joost van Keppel Lord of Voorst came over with the Prince of Orange, by whom he was held in the highest esteem, and after that Prince's accession to the throne, was created Earl of Albemarle and received the Order of the Garter. The 2nd Earl was a distinguished general. Ambassador at the Court of Versailles, and K.G. The 3rd Earl was K.G., a General, and A.D.C. to the Duke of Cumberland at Culloden.
