his guidance, appointed their factor in the Low Countries; he was to be allowed in remuneration for his trouble and responsibility, as the consignee of the cargoes sent over from Virginia, a commission of two shillings in the pound sterling on the returns from the sales.[1] The impost enforced by the Dutch was half a penny for each pound of tobacco.
