137. Reduction of a Fraction to its Lowest Terms. As shown in the preceding article an algebraic fraction may be changed into an equivalent fraction by dividing numera- tor and denominator by any common factor ; if this factor be the highest common factor, the resulting fraction is said to be reduced to its lowest terms.
