John Kemp, archbishop of York and a Roman cardinal, to this see, by bull dated at Rome 21st July 1452'[2]; he obtained restitution of the temporalities 6th Sept.[3] The bull of his translation arrived at Canterbury 21st Sept., and the next day was read in the chapter; he received his pall on the 24th of the same month, and was enthroned 11th Dec. following. He became chancellor of England in 1452; and died 22nd March 1454[4], and was buried in his own cathedral[5]. The license to elect vice cardinal Kemp issued 9th April 1454[6].

Thomas Bourchier, bishop of Ely, was elected to this see 22nd April 1454; received the Pope's bull of confirmation 22nd Aug.; had the temporalities restored to him the same day[7]; and was enthroned 26th Jan. following. He was constituted chancellor of England in 1455[8], and a cardinal in 1464[9]. He died at Knole 30th March 1486, and was buried in his own cathedral[10]. The congé d'élire, vice archbishop Bourchier, bears date 13th June 1487[11] . The Pope however had already appointed
