21 Geo. II.Thomas Herring, archbishop of York, was nominated by the King in council 27th Oct. 1747^[1]; and a congé d'élire and letter missive were accordingly sent to the dean and chapter of Canterbury to elect him^[2]. He received the royal assent 6th Nov.; was confirmed 24th Nov.; and on the 25th of that month the temporalities were restored to him^[3]. He died at Croydon on Sunday morning 13th March 1757, æt. 66.

1757
30 Geo. IIMatthew Hutton, archbishop of York, was nominated by the King in council 29th March 1757^[4]; and the usual congé d'élire and letter missive were issued^[5]. He was elected 13th April; the royal assent was given to his election 15th April^[6]; he was confirmed on the 29th; and the temporalities were restored to him on the 30th of that month^[7]. He died 19th March 1758.

1758
31 Geo. II.Thomas Secker, bishop of Oxford, was nominated by the King in council 8th March 1758^[8], and the usual congé d'élire and letter missive were issued on the occasion^[9]. He was elected 7th April; the royal assent to his election was given 10th April; he was confirmed 21st April; and the temporalities were restored to him on the 25th of that month^[10]. He died 3rd. Aug. 1768.

1768
9 Geo. III.The honourable Frederick Cornwallis, bishop of Lichfield and Coventry, was elected 23rd Aug. 1768^[11], confirmed at Bow church 30th Sept., and enthroned at Canterbury 6th Oct. He died 19th March 1783.
