1618 George Carleton, S.T.P., was elected 23rd Dec. 1617, '. : > l and received the royal assent to his election 26th Feb. 1617-18 ,6 . He was confirmed 11th July 1618, and consecrated at Lambeth the next day '". The tempo- ralities were restored to him 6th Aug. He was trans- lated to Chichester in [619. The licenso to elect a bishop in the room of George Carletou issued 20th Sept. i6i9 ,s ; in pursuance of which [619 Theophilus Field, S.T.P., was elected 25th Sept. 1 1619. and received the royal assent 1st Oct. 1 '; he was confirmed on the 6th, and consecrated at Lam- beth on the 10th of the same month '. In 1627 he was translated to St. David's. The lie, use to elect a successor to bishop Field i- dated 13th Nov. 1627 '; in pursuance of which 1627 William 53 Murray, bishop of Kilfenorct, was elected 3 Car. I. to this see 28th Nov. 1627. He received the royal assent 10th Dec. 53 , and was confirmed on the 24th of that month 54 . The temporalities were restored to him 5th Feb. 1628 55 . He died in Feb. 1639-40, and was buried at Mat hern. The conge dVlire, vice bishop Murray, issued in Feb. 56 1639-40; in pursuance of which 1640 Morgan Owj \, S.T.P , was elected 12th March, and 15 Car. I. received the royal assent to his election 19th March 1639-40 '". He was confirmed on the 24th, and con- secrated on the 29th of the same month 58 ; and ob- tained the temporalities 9th April following. He
