He was con- secrated by Robert bishop of Chichester at Lambeth 12th July following, and enthroned the same day", on which day he also became chancellor of England 98 . He died 8th Dec. 1339", and was buried in his own cathedral on the 13th of the same month 1 . The conge dYliro vice bishop Bynteworth is dated 25th Jan. 1339-40 3 . 1^40 Ralph de Steatfoed, canon of Si. PauVs and nephew Ed. III. of John archbishop of Canterbury 3 , was elected 26th Jan. 1339 40 4 , and received the royal assent to his election on the 29th of that month 5 , and the restitu- tion of the temporalities 13th Feb. He was conse- crated at Canterbury on the second Sunday in Lent. 1 2th March follow Jul;- . His death took place at Step- ney on Thursday 7th April 1 354*. Fourteen days alter the decease of bishop Stratford, the conge dVlire to the dean and chapter issued 9 , and 1354 Michael de Noethbueg or Noethbrook, LL.D., Ed.
