THIRD STALL.

Thomas Day, LL.B., was appointed the first in this stall by the new charter in 1546. Ob. in Feb. 1567-8, and was buried in the cathedral here.

Thomas Thornton, A.M., about the beginning of March 15678. He died 13th April 1629, and was buried in one of the aisles of this cathedral.

Richard Gardiner, A.M., succeeded 23rd April 1629 ; and in 1647-8 he was turned out by the Parliamentary visitors.

Christopher Rogers, S.T.P., was appointed to suc- ceed in his place by the same authority, 2nd March 16478, and took possession thereof 1 2th April fol- lowing; but soon after the Restoration he was obliged to give way to the right owner. vol. 11. 3 x
