DEANS. 247 Thomas Comber, S.T.P., was presented 28th Aug. 1629. ^^ 1642 Comber lost all, and died 28th Feb. 1653-4, and was buried 3rd March in St. Botolph's church, Cambridge. Vacant till after the Restoration. GuyCarleton, S.T.P., was made dean 29th June 1660. In 1672 he was made bishop of Bristol. Thomas Smith, S.T.P., admitted 4th March 1671: from this dignity he was made bishop of this see in 1684. Thomas Musgrave, S.T.P. , nominated to this deanery in July 1684, and admitted 30th Sept. 1684. He died 28th Marchi686, and was buried in Durham cathedral, of which he was a prebend ^1. William Grahme, A.M., admitted 21st and installed 23rd June 1686. In J 704 he was removed to the deanery of Wells. Francis Atterbury, S.T.P., nominated 29th Sept. and installed 2nd Oct. 1704, and in 17 11 he was removed to the deanery of Christ Church, Oxon. George Smalridge, S.T.P., was nominated to this deanery 31st Aug. and admitted 3rd Nov. 17 11. He resigned on being made dean of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1713- Thomas Gibbon, A.M., admitted 22nd Oct. 17 13. He died in 17 16. Thomas Tullie, A.M., chancellor of Carlisle, promoted to the deanery, and admitted 21st Nov. 1716. He died 30th Jan. 1726-7. George Fleming, LL.D., admitted 13th April 1727 : made bishop of Carlisle in 1735. Robert Bolton, admitted ist Feb. 1734-5. He died in 1765. Charles Tarrant, D.D., 8th March 1764, on the death of llobert ]3olton : made dean of Peterborough in the same year. Thomas Wilson, D.D., 23rd July 1764, on the resig- nation of Charles Tarrant. Ob. 1778.
