His will was proved in 1633 ♦'. 1632 Thomas Morton, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield^ 8 Car. I. having been elected to the see of Durham, obtained permission 29th June 1632 to receive confirmation within the province of Canterbury ^'^, and was accord- ingly confirmed 2nd July in the chapel attached to Durham-house, London 'J; on the 1 2th of the same month he obtained the temporalities. He died 22nd Sept. 1659, ^'tat. 95, and was buried at Easton Maudit in Northamptonshire '^ His will, dated 26th Feb. 1658-9, was proved ist Oct. 1660 John Cosin, dean of Peterhorough and master of Peter - 12 Car. II. house^ Cambridge^ was consecrated bishop of Durham 2nd Dec. 1660. He died in London 15th Jan. 1671-2, aetat. 77, and was buried 29th April at Bishop's Auck- land ^ The see icas vacant upwards of two years after the death of bishop Cosin. 16^4. Nathaniel Crew^< bishop of Oxford, was translated 26 Car II. to Durham 22nd Oct. 1674^"; confirmed and conse- crated 6th Dec. following. He died 18th Sept. 1722, setat. 88, and was buried at Stene in Northampton- shire^". 1722 William Talbot, bishop of Salisbtiry, was promoted 8 Geo.
