William Strode, M.A., student of Christ Churchy and proctor of the University, was elected :26th Nov. 1629. He was the first that held this office to his death_, to- gether with the canonry of the second stall of Christ Church. Henry Hammond, S.T.P., late fellow of Magdalen col- lege, was elected 17th March 1644-5. Ejected by the Parliament- visitors in 1647—8. He was canon of the second stall of Christ Church. Edward Corbet, M.A., late fellow of Merton college, was substituted by the same authority that ejected his predecessor about 20th Jan. 1647-8, as also in his canonry of Christ Church. Ralph Button, M.A., fellow of Merton college, and proctor of the University, was put in by the same au- thority 4th Aug. 1648 ; but was forced to quit it, and the canonry of the second stall of Christ Church, soon after the Restoration. Robert South, M.A., student of Christ Church, was elected loth Aug. 1660. He became canon of the third stall of Christ Church, and senior prebendary of Westminster. Thomas Cradocke, M.A., of Magdalen college, 1677. William Wyatt, M.A., student of Christ Church, 1679. He held the office in 1714 and 1726, and became principal of St. Mary hall.
