"* PROVOSTS. Adam de Brome was nominated by the King to be the first provost 21st Jan. 1325-67^, and was admitted 9th Aug. 1326. He died i6th June 1332, and was buried in St. Mary's church. William de Leverton succeeded in 1332. William de Hawkesworth, S.T.P., felloiv first of Balliol^ and afterwards of Queen's college, became provost here in the year 1347. He died 8th April 1349, and was buried in St. Mary's. William de Daventrie succeeded in April or May 1349, and died in 1373. John Colyntre succeeded in 1373. Ob. 1386 7'. John Middleton, S.T.P., was elected in Nov. 1386. A dispute about his election and that of Thomas Kirton referred to arbitration 23rd May 1386"^. John Maldon, M.A., Theol. Scholaris, and M.B., was elected 9th July 1394. He died in Feb. 1401, and was buried in St. Mary's.
