Rio Blanco, Colo. Aug 7, 1909
Rained more toward morning. Broke camp at 8:30 and started north through Rio Blanco, P.O. to Meeker , still cloudy. About 5 miles from camp we saw ravens and three eagles . It rained soon after noon. Reached Meeker , at about 5 p.m., and camped in a vacant lot in east part of town. We may get put off by the owner, but hope not. Clear and warm the latter part of afternoon. Bluebirds common here. Saw a few Say phoebes . On road Brewer sparrows and lark sparrows were abundant Doves numerous here, not so on the road. Saw two more eagles just as we reached the White River . This river is very muddy, and about 40 to 100 ft. wide now. Good water in town waterworks but somewhat alkaline. We passed
