Rio Blanco, Colo. Rio Blanco, Colorado Aug 7, 1909 August 7, 1909

Rained more toward morning. Broke camp at 8:30 and started north through Rio Blanco, P.O. Rio Blanco, Colorado to Meeker Meeker, Colorado, still cloudy. About 5 miles from camp we saw ravens Corvus and three eagles Accipitridae. It rained soon after noon. Reached Meeker Meeker, Colorado, at about 5 p.m., and camped in a vacant lot in east part of town. We may get put off by the owner, but hope not. Clear and warm the latter part of afternoon. Bluebirds Sialia common here. Saw a few Say phoebes Sayornis saya. On road Brewer sparrows Spizella breweri and lark sparrows Chondestes grammacus were abundant Doves Zenaida macroura numerous here, not so on the road. Saw two more eagles Accipitridae just as we reached the White River White River, Colorado. This river is very muddy, and about 40 to 100 ft. wide now. Good water in town waterworks but somewhat alkaline. We passed
