San Diego San Diego, California Spanish Bight, hard layer fossiliferous Pleistocene forms beach at foot of bluff. Pacific Beach Pacific Beach, San Diego, slightly tilted San Diego Pliocene sandstone capped by horizontal upper San Pedro gravels. San Diego formation rests on massive gravels and conglomerates at Pacific Beach Pacific Beach, San Diego. Here San Diego has a Pecten expansus Pecten expansus and a Opalia varicostata Opalia varicostata horizon. Foot of 26th st., upper San Pedro formation in lower half of bluff, with Anomia limatula Anomia limatula horizon at base and forming low reef on beach. Pliocene, 2 faunal horizons, but one stratigraphic unit.
