1 úa cieh kùe i ngŏ kâi n̂gn. 1 I borrowed five dollars from him.
2 úa ngŏ kâi n̂gn cieh i. 2 I lent him five dollars.
3 i chut sài gūa chù. 3 He sent an ambassador abroad.
4 cí kâi n̂gn tîeh hâiⁿ i. 4 You must repay him this money.
5 úa khìam lʉ́ sîah n̂gn jîeh cōi, úa sǹg hâiⁿ lʉ́. 5 I will repay you what I owe you for the repast.
6 cí kâi sĭ kim cɵ̀. 6 This is made of gold.
7 lʉ́ sɵ́ cieh kâi n̂gn tîeh hâiⁿ i. 7 You must pay him the money you borrowed.
8 i cîⁿ n̂gn cōi. 8 He has much money.
9 i bɵ̂ cîⁿ, bɵ̂ n̂gn. 9 He has neither cash nor dollars.
10 lʉ́ khìam i jîeh cōi? 10 How much do you owe him?
11 i khìam úa lân kâi cîⁿ tīaⁿ. phɵ́ cai. phɵ́ cōi. 11 He owes me only a few cash. Know somewhat. Rather many.
12 taⁿ àiⁿ sǹg sìo. 12 Will now settle accounts.
13 lʉ́ sìo, thóiⁿ ŭ jîeh cōi kâi. 13 You count, and see how many there are.
14 hŵn ŭ hɵh cōi. 14 There are still a good many.
15 i sái hɵh cōi cîⁿ. 15 He spends a good deal.
16 sái i khʉ̀ khîeh. 16 Send him for it.
17 i sĭ hɵh tōa kâi. 17 It is a rather large one.
18 àiⁿ cang kim cɵ̀, a sĭ àiⁿ cang n̂gn cɵ̀? sǹg sìo. 18 Do you want it made of gold or of silver? Reckon up.
19 lʉ́ sǹg m̄ tîeh. 19 You have reckoned wrongly.
20 soiⁿ sǹg kàu tīaⁿ tîeh. 20 First reckon exactly.
21 àiⁿ khʉ̀ kùe nî. 21 Going to spend New Year.
22 i ŭ cōi kùe úa. 22 He has more than I.
23 i kâi a pĕ kùe khʉ̀. 23 His father has passed away.
