INTRODUCTION TO FRENCH PHONOLOGY

INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL

Chapter 1 thru 10

The Instructor's Manual contains classroom exercises that do not appear in the student's Introduction to French Phonology. Reading selections and test questions are presented in both texts. Answers appear only in the Instructor's Manual.

Each Chapter is composed of three parts:

  1. Conversation: The students take the roles of the dialogue learned in the laboratory.
  2. Exercises: The Instructor presents each exercise according to the instructions given.

Reading : Since the exercises of this part are designed to prepare the students for the reading section, the instructor sends the students to the laboratory before he asks them to read in class. Since the purpose of the reading is to learn to associate French sounds with French spelling, no translation should be given.
  3. Tests: The Instructor corrects in class the tests which the students prepared in the laboratory.
