Of the remaining 684,305 were included in one estate (Baundi) from which the taluqdar was excluded^ not as having no right to these villages, but on account of defalcation in the payment of the revenue, while 230 were deserted villages, and on that account settled with no one. From 78 villages only were the taluqdars ousted, the adverse claimants being declared the owners of the properties. matter for surprise that so many of the large landholders in this district should have declared against us in the troubles which ensued as to necessitate, on our re-occupation of the province, the confiscation of no less than 1,858 villages belonging to them.
