The shock had been felt, they said, far worse at Agropoli and below it, than with them; naturally so, for the limestone mountains jut out into bold promontories and come down to the sea at or near that town. At Capaccio Nuovo they said the shock had also been felt from E. to W., and more from the north, than with them at Pæstum.
