As the seismic vertical in this earthquake was situated upon land, and not out at sea, no great sea-wave or other noticeable disturbance of the sea could have been produced, and no rumour or account of anything of the sort, could be obtained as the result of my inquiries.

I have already fully discussed the facts as to any permanent elevation of the land, and shown that they are equally negative.
