He was a member of every democratic state convention held in Illinois between 1865 and 1885. In 1885 he was appointed associate justice of the supreme court of the territory of Arizona. He died about 1904 in Tucson, Arizona. Barnett, Edward Henry, clergyman, journalist, author, was born Oct. 8, 1840, in Montgomery county, Va. Barnett, James, soldier, merchant, banker, 21, 1821, in Cherry Valley, N. Y. He is a successful hardware merchant of Cleveland, Ohio. During the civil war he attained the rank of brigadier-general. He has served as president of the First national bank of Cleveland, Ohio. Barnett, Samuel, journalist, author, was born March 6, 1824, in Washington, Ga. He was president of the Washington bank; in 1871 was commissioner; and in 1872 was secretary of the Georgia state agricultural society. He was editor of the Chronicle. Barney, Albert Milton, soldier, was born in New York. During the civil war he attained the rank of brigadier-general. He died Aug. 24, 1886, in New York City. Barney, Benjamin Griffin, soldier, was born in New York. He served from Pennsylvania as captain and lieutenant-colonel in the civil war; and in 1865 was brevetted brigadier-general of volunteers. He died July 1886, in Pennsylvania. Barney, Charles Tracy, business president, banker, was born Jan. 27, 1851, in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1870 he graduated from William college and has since been engaged in banking in New York City. He has been president and director of the Knickerbocker trust company; president of the New York loan and improvement company; and a director in the Brooklyn life insurance company and various other large corporations. He died Nov. 23,
