Democrat, the free-soil organ of northern Ohio. In 1853 he withdrew from that paper, which a year later became the Cleveland Leader. He then established the Ohio Farmer. At the time of his death he was supervisor and special agent of the treasury department in New York City. He died June 13, 1867, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Brown, Thomas, governor. He was the second governor of Florida in 1849-53. He died in Florida.

Brown, Thomas Allston, dramatist, author, was born Jan. 16, 1836, in Newburyport, Mass. In 1861-67 he was dramatic editor of the New York Clipper. He is the author of History of the American Stage; and History of the New York Stage, 1733-1902, in three volumes. Brown, Thomas Edwin, clergyman, author, was born in 1841 in District of Columbia. He is a baptist clergyman of Rochester, N. Y. He is the author of Studies in Modern Socialism and Labor Problems. Brown, Thomas Jefferson, lawyer, legislator, jurist, was born July S4, 1836, in Jasper county, Ga. In 1888-93 he was a member of the Texas state legislature; and was judge of the state district court in 1893-93. Since 1893 he has been an associate justice of the state supreme court of Texas. Brown, Thomas McKee, clergyman, founder, was born Feb. 8, 1841, in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1866 he was ordained priest. In 1870 he founded the church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York City. He died Dec. 19, 1898.

Brown, Titus, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born in 1786 in Cheshire county, N.H. He was a member of the state legislature of New Hampshire in 1820. In 183539 he was a representative from New Hampshire to the nineteenth and twentieth congresses. In 1842 he was elected to the state senate; and was made president. Brown, William Faulkner, clergyman, was born in New York City. He was educated in as a physician; and during the civil war served as surgeon on the United States steamer Mystic and afterward was examining surgeon at Park barracks, New York. In 1880 he accepted the place of chaplain to St. Joseph's hospital at Patterson. He died Aug. 33, 1881, in Paterson, N.J.
