Cannon, Charles James, author, poet, was born on Nov. 4, 1800, in New York City. He was the author of Poems, Dramatic and Miscellaneous; Pencillings from the Web of Life; and compiled a series of readers. He died Nov. 9, 1860, in

Cannon, Charles Wesley, pioneer, capitalist, was born July 1, 1836, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the largest tax payer in Helena, Mont.; and is a leading spirit in gas, electric light and street railroad companies; and president of several of them. He is also vicepresident of the Montana central railway; and proprietor of a ranch of three thousand acres stocked with horses, cattle and sheep. Cannon, Frank Jenne, journalist, congressman, United States senator, was born Jan. 25, 1859, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1878 he graduated from the imiversity of Utah. He is a, printer and newspaper writer; and interested in mines. In 1892 he was a delegate to the republican national convention; in 1893 was a candidate for delegate to congress; and was elected a delegate to congress in 1894. In 189699 he was a member of the United States senate. He left the St. Louis national republican convention because of dissatisfaction with the monetary plan of their platform. He is prominently identified with the business and public affairs of Salt Lake City, Utah. Cannon, George Q., journalist, state legislator, congressman, was born Jan. 11, 1827, in England. He was a member of the legislatire council of Utah in 1865-66 and 1869-73. In 1865 he was elected a regent of the Deseret university; and subsequently served two terms as chancellor of that institution. At a constitutional convention held at Salt

Cannon, Joseph G., lawyer, congressman, was born May 7, 1836, in Guilford, N.C. He was state's attorney in Illinois in 1861-68. In 1873-1911 he was a representative from Illinois to the forty-third to the sixty-first congresses as a republican. Cannon, Newton, congressman, governor, was born about 1781, in Guilford county, N.C. He removed to 'Tennessee; and was a member of the state legislature in 1811-13.
